Industrial Mechatronic Unit

The Industrial Mechatronic Unit is a basic mechatronic unit with transfer system, driven by a variable-speed 24 V gearmotor. Two end-position sensors at the beginning and end of the unit can be used for end-position shutdown or to signal the entry or exit of the workpiece carrier. The transfer unit can be used for basic experiments on a transport system or for integration into a complex mechatronic system for controlling the material flow. A Siemens PLC mounted in the control cabinet is freely programmable and controls the module. The Industrial Mechatronic Unit also connects individual processing stations up to a complete Industry 4.0 production plant. It transports workpiece carriers with workpieces or even individual workpieces.

A processing station mounted on the conveyor belt can be controlled via the PLC using the 25-pin D-Sub connection.

The system can be separated from a complete system and moved to the individual workstation without the need for complex conversion measures or changes to the cabling and without the use of tools. The lockable rollers underneath the unit allow the position to be changed easily. Connected units can also be moved in a network.

An integrated switch makes it easy to network several systems. Several units can be connected to each other via PROFINET cables already present in the system. The included cable is simply connected to the side socket of the adjacent system. The power supply is also looped on in the same way. The individual systems do not all have to be connected separately to a central switch. Thick cable harnesses and the laying of long cables are thus eliminated. For an entire system, only one power supply cable and only one Ethernet cable are required.

 

Via the two self-closing 6 mm (0.236 in) hose connections at the beginning and end of the transport system, compressed air can easily be passed on via a short piece of 6 mm (0.236 in) air hose. A further, self-closing 4 mm (0.157 in) connection can be used to supply compressed air to an attached processing station. The retaining plate mounted in the control cabinet allows individual equipment. Optionally, e.g. iWlan modules for wireless communication can be mounted.
