Course Electronics 6.1: Power semiconductors for AC voltage applications

Scope of Delivery:

  • 1 experiment card equipped with various power semiconductor components, i.e. power diode, thyristor, MOSFET, solid state relay. Electrically isolated power voltage source for operating power semiconductors.
  • 1 experiment card functions as the load card with the following applications: High volt LED model, illumination with conventional transformer, illumination with electronic transformer.
  • Fault simulation activation for systematic trouble-shooting
  • Storage case
  • Labsoft browser and course software

Training content:

  • Become familiar with the design and operation of power diodes
  • Become familiar with the design and operation of thyristors
  • Become familiar with the design and operation of TRIACs
  • Become familiar with the design and operation of semiconductor relays (SSR)
  • Become familiar with phase angle control (leading and trailing edge phase control)
  • Operating components in typical circuitry
  • Using measurement techniques to investigate the parameters of power semiconductors
  • Investigate switching operations under various loads
  • Guided and systematic trouble-shooting of power diodes and thyristors
  • Course duration: 4 hours approx. (0.5 hours for trouble-shooting)
