Folding precision digital multimeter for vehicles

Multimeter for use in the vehicle manufacturing industry, in workshops and repair garages, in schools and in training centres.

The Folding multimeter is an easy-to-use tool for vehicle electricians (mechatronics specialists), capable of making about 70% of all the measurements that need to be made on vehicles during servicing and repairs. This device eliminates the need to rely on complex and expensive diagnostic testers except in certain special cases. The METRAport 40S USB can also, however, be connected to a diagnostic tester via the standard USB port.

  • Precision multimeter (V, A, Ω, F, Hz, %, °C/°F)

  • Resolution: 10 µV, 10 nA, 10 mΩ 4¾-digit

  • Accurate root mean square measurements, TRMS V AC and I AC up to 10 kHz

  • Direct current measurement 10 nA ... 10 A via socket and resettable circuit breaker, with signals for overload and faulty circuit breaker

  • Current measurement via clip-on current sensors:

    • Sensitivity of 1 mV:1 mA up to 1 mV:1 A can be adjusted and the setting is shown on the display

  • Temperature measurement with built-in Pt sensor detection

  • Temperature measurement using type K thermocouples

  • Measurement of capacitors and diodes

  • Frequency measurement via V AC or I AC up to 10 kHz

  • Frequency and duty cycle measurement of 2...5 V signals of up to 1 MHz

  • RPM measurement via inductive sensors (separate accessories)

  • Automatic and manual selection of measuring range

  • Large backlit digital display with additional analog scale

  • Storage of measurements, min./max. recording

  • DKD certificate and 3-year warranty

The following is a list of practical applications where the device can be useful:

  • Current consumption can be measured via a clip-on contact or by direct measurement, e.g. for measuring leakage current when the vehicle is switched off (< 20mA) or similar for spark plugs, fuel pumps (>10A) etc.

  • Measurement of battery voltage

  • Temperature measurement for oil, coolant or air conditioning

  • Diode test at 1mA constant current, e.g. for power diodes between accumulator and charging electronics

  • RPM or frequency measurement from ignition cables in order to test speedometer, engine revs or ignition electronics

  • Low-voltage measurements (µV function),
In order to measure voltage drop across circuit breakers or detect faulty components (e.g. control units), which should really be switched off (leakage currents)
